DNB Pediatrics old Question Paper december 2014


• This question paper consists of 10 questions divided into Part 'A' and Part 'B', each part containing 5 questions.
• Answers to questions of Part 'A' and Part 'B' are to be strictly attempted in separate answer sheet(s) and the main + supplementary answer sheet(s) used for each part must be tagged separately.
• Answers to questions of Part 'A' attempted in answer sheet(s) of Part 'B' or vice versa shall not be evaluated.
• Answer sheet(s) of Part 'A' and Part 'B' are not to be tagged together.
• Part 'A and Part B' should be mentioned only on the covering page of the respective answer sheet(s).
• Attempt all questions in order.
• Each question carries 10 marks.
• Read the question carefully and answer to the point neatly and legibly.
• Do not leave any blank pages between two answers.
• Indicate the question number correctly for the answer in the margin space.

10. a) Define sensitivity,specificity & positive predictive value. 2+2+2

4. What is Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV)? What are the advantages & disadvantages of IPV over OPV? What is the schedule of IPV as recommended by lAP? 3+5

    b) Recent advances in the management of thalassemia major. 5

6. Enumerate causes for Steroid Resistant Nephrotic Syndrome and discuss its management. 4+6

7. a) Define dyslexia. Briefly discuss its management 5

   b) Define 'precocious puberty' in boys Enumerate causes of precocious puberty in boys. 5

8. Enumerate common types of neural tube defects. Discuss prevention and management of neural tube defects. 4+(2+4)

9. a) Classification of childhood leukemias. 5

   b) Management of tumour lysis syndrome. 5

10. Types, clinical presentation and management of spinal muscular atrophies. 2+4+4
